‘Like We Were Talking in Person': Zuckerberg’s Metaverse Is Coming to Life

Last week, prominent AI academic Lex Fridman & host of the Lex Fridman Podcast with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg provided a sneak peek at the potential of Meta's metaverse technology. The team created "codec avatars" that are incredibly realistic using Meta's Reality Labs' technology, and then used them to produce a podcast that demonstrated the power of this advanced technology. These artificial doppelgängers are made to catch delicate body language and facial expressions, resulting in an immersive experience that Fridman called "incredible" and similar to having a face-to-face conversation.

News of the Week :

Hollywood Writers Reached an AI Deal That Will Rewrite History

After over 5 months of struggle, it finally seems that the prolonged Writer’s Guild strike has reached a favorable conclusion. A tentative agreement protecting Hollywood screenwriters against the growing impact of AI in scriptwriting has been reached after a five-month strike. The yet-to-be-ratified agreement mandates studios to disclose the use of AI and forbids AI from contributing to credits or rights.
